Actor Sean Patrick Thomas and wife Aonika Laurent just welcomed their first child into the world.  The chosen name is Lola Jolie Thomas.   While the Thomases have not publicly announced their inspiration for the middle name, it is unlikely that the choice would have been made if Angelina Jolie was not a popular Hollywood star.  The name was very rare in the United States until it broke into the top charts in 2000, incidentally just a year after Angelina Jolie played her award-winning role in Girl, Interrupted.

The name Angelina has had its greatest leap in popularity around the same time as well, rising by a whopping 63 spots in the national average in a single year back in 2001. Both Angelina and Jolie have great potential for taking the top two spots in the country, both being very American names with a beautiful flow and, as it happens, a nice layer of glamorizing  "star dust." 

Jolie has become the Hollywood symbol for motherhood, and her unique name choices have given sparks of popularity to more than a few obscure baby names.  In 2002 Jolie adopted her first son Maddox, and the name was an instant hit. The next year it was a regular on the top charts and has been on the rise since.  In 2006 Jolie gave birth to daughter Shiloh, and not surprisingly, the name became popular in the next year.
