As Dannielynn Hope Marshall Birkhead celebrated her third birthday, additional charges were being drawn up in the case of her late mother’s death.

Howard K. Stern was the longtime companion of Anna Nicole Smith (formerly Vickie Lynn Hogan Marshall). This week, Stern was charged with five more felonies stemming from Smith’s 2007 death. Stern has pleaded not guilty to charges involving the prescription drugs which led to Smith’s death.

Following a very public custody hearing, Smith’s daughter, Dannielynn (pronounced Dannie-Lynn), is being raised by her biological father, Larry Birkhead. Interestingly, the name Dannie means “God will judge,” while Lynn translates to “Idol” and “Pretty.”

Smith’s elder child, son Daniel, died the same weekend Dannielynn was born.
