Jaycee Dugard People magazinePeople magazine’s newest cover girl is recently released kidnap victim, Jaycee Dugard. The magazine features the first publicized photos of Dugard since she returned to her family in August 2009.

Dugard, 29, who was held against her will for 18 years, is “so happy to be back with my family.”

While in captivity, Dugard was raped repeatedly by her captor, registered sex offender Phillip Garrido, 58. Dugard gave birth to two daughters:  Angel, and Starlit. The beautiful names of her children – who had never been to school or to a doctor – perhaps suggest Dugard’s hopefulness that she would one day be released of her nightmare. Dugard’s younger daughter is 11 years old, the same age Dugard was at the time of her abduction.

Dugard, Angel and Starlit are now living in seclusion with Dugard’s mother, Terry Probyn, and starting the difficult process of recovery.
