Gunner is a name of Norse origin and translates to “battle; strife.” The more traditional variation is Gunnar. The Icelandic meaning is “warrior,” and the Danish Viking-age meaning is “war general.” Flowers, 28, chose the name Gunner because it’s a tough-sounding name. “I had to have something that combats against the [surname] Flowers,” said the rocker. I love Brandon Flowers from the The Killers! Very cool and unique name -- Gunner. As he said, it is a tough name that combats his last name. LOL!

Brandon Flowers, frontman for the Las Vegas-based rock band The Killers, is the proud father of a new baby boy. Gunner is the second child for Flowers and his wife Tana, who also have 2-year old son
