Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon aren’t expecting a baby, but they’ve already picked out names!

Mariah, 39, told SIRIUS XM radio that she isn’t pregnant, but she and Nick, 28, will be ready when it happens.

"We have to keep the name secret,” said Mariah, “because if we told everybody, then somebody might use it and then we have to change it, and then it wouldn't be as good."

Perhaps the couple will name their baby after Mariah, an English name. Mariah is a variant of Mary, which means “Bitter.” If it’s a girl, they might consider Mariel, Marise, Amariah or Marian. If it’s a boy, they can pay tribute to Mariah with names like Mark, Marcus or Demarco.

Dad’s name, on the other hand, is short for Nicholas. Nick is a diminutive of Dominick and can be traced to the Greek name Nikolaos, meaning “Victory of the people.” A son might be named Nickson or Nike while a daughter could be Nicole or Nikki.
