So what is all the latest buzz about baby name consultants?  It seems that more and more new parents are turning to a professional baby namer to find a name for their new addition.  Have parents found a new baby creating essential or have they gone a bit overboard with the quest for the perfect baby name?

It is hard to miss the latest phenomenon of unique baby names.  Just scanning the most recent top baby name charts is enough to see original spellings and unique names swiftly climbing up the ranks.  Although more traditional names still hold the top spots, it is a wonder how long their popularity will last.  The baby name popularity chart itself is quickly losing its credibility.  With so many spelling variations for popular names, it is hard to tell which names should really be in the top 5.  The phenomenal rise of the baby name Aiden is a good example, as it would likely had been in the number one spot had every parent spelled the name the same way.

So is the search for the most unique baby name sending parents to spend money on professional consultants, or is the corporate world slowly taking over the more innocent aspects of our lives?  Why are today’s parents so concerned with finding a perfect baby name?  Most mothers can testify as to how a given name grows on a child, intermixing with their personality.  So even if a parent didn’t feel 100% right with a certain name, eventually it became such a part of their child that all previous associations didn’t matter.

It is important to keep the baby name in perspective, but parents feeling the pressure of finding the perfect name for their baby do have other options.  It is almost sure that Grandma will have loads of ideas.  And for those looking for a career change, becoming a baby name expert may offer the flexibility that you are looking for without the degree requirement.
