Vitamin C strengthens the immune system and acts as a detoxifier.

As Vitamin C can not be stored in your body, you will need to consume it religiously.  It is crucial for your baby's growth and development in the uterus. Vitamin C also strengthens your immune system, helping the fetus grow in a healthy body.

How much Vitamin C should you consume?

It is a widely discussed issue with practitioners and dietitians, but here a few pointers agreed on by all:

It is a good idea to keep a container of orange juice in your fridge at all times (naturally squeezed, of course). You may want to drink a glass in the morning to give your body a boost of Vitamin C to last through the day.

Fruits and vegetables are crucial for vitamin C intake. Lettuce, peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, asparagus, kiwi and mango are just some of the produce that is rich in vitamin C. These foods are a good source of other vitamins, iron and nutrients which will keep you healthy and regular.

The  important thing to remember is eating these vegetables raw is best. When you boil greens, the vitamin C and other vitamins boil away, giving you less supplemental value.
