Having a baby means its time to change things, time to create an economical environment in which you can work out future plans for your new family.
Living with Debt
If you can't seem to work out a sensible budget or save up any money, you may want to consider the services of a credit counseling agency. These agencies are usually non-profit. Their aim is to help you in solving your financial difficulties, making debts manageable and allowing you to start planning for your child's future without going bankrupt.
Having a baby is a time in which all your financial worries can make you become tense and anxious. Careful planning for repayment of debts is the first step in reaching a better financial standing point, and a more relaxed day-to-day life.
How does credit counseling work?
Credit counseling agencies may offer educational materials and workshops, or help you develop a budget. Many agencies offer services nationwide through local offices or the Internet.
When given credit counseling you will usually be asked not take any additional credit while going through your personal recovery program. A successful repayment plan requires you to make regular, timely payments, and could take 48 months or longer to complete. So it will take some time to heal you financial condition, but the longer you wait – the longer it will take!
Some credit counseling agencies charge little or nothing for managing the plan; others charge a monthly fee that could add up to be a significant charge over time.
