This week the baby completes the most critical stage of development.

Your Baby

At this point your baby is called a fetus in medical terms.  This week or the following week the placenta will begin to provide your baby with its nutrition and will be responsible for eliminating waste from the baby.  The color of the eyes is determined at this point.

This week your baby has completed the most critical period of its development.  The next stage is rapid growth!

This week your baby will grow to approximately 1.22 inches.

Changes in your Body

Your early pregnancy symptoms may begin to ease off.  Morning sickness and fatigue may become less pronounced.  If you have not experienced an improvement, the symptoms should begin to ease off soon.

A woman’s blood volume almost doubles during pregnancy, and you may notice that with the weeks the veins in your stomach legs and breasts are becoming more discernible.  It is advised to sleep on the left side during pregnancy to relieve pressure on the large blood vessels that are carrying nutrients and oxygen to the baby.
