Most of the baby’s organs are functioning and you may feel your early pregnancy symptoms easing. Your Baby
Most organs in the body have completed their formation and are working. The fingers and toes have separated from their webbing and tiny nails are beginning to grow. Although it is still too early to tell if you have a boy or a girl, the genital organs begin to form to the appropriate gender. Amniotic fluid begins to collect. Being mainly made up of water, it helps to provide a “pillow” for your baby while inside the womb. The size of the baby this week is about 1.65 inches. Changes in your Body Your morning sickness and fatigue may be easing this week. As your appetite is increasing, make sure that you are not skipping meals and eating often. Your baby relies on you for all its nutritional needs. Because of the increase in blood volume you may experience bleeding of the gums. Your caregiver may suggest prenatal testing. Some testing may be potentially risky – make sure you familiarize yourself with all the facts and do your research. It is your choice to get tested or not. What is prenatal testing?
... written by Yvonne L, February 22, 2008
Prenatal testing is to make sure that your baby is developing in the proper place and at the proper rate. Also, it checks for early birth defects. This is usually done through an ultrasound or an amneosentises. (not sure if I spelled the last word correctly).
