You have missed your period and are wondering if you are pregnant. Meanwhile, inside you, the baby’s heart begins to beat! Your Baby The heart begins to beat! The umbilical chord that will provide your baby’s nourishment develops this week, along with most of the organs and the beginnings of arms and legs. Changes in your Body Your period is late. You can consider trying a home pregnancy test at this point, as there are tests available that can detect a pregnancy even a few days after you miss your period. The uterus begins to press on the bladder as it is growing and you may find yourself urinating more frequently. The breasts may be sore and darken around the areola. The hormones in your body may be making you feel tired or nauseated. Nausea associated with pregnancy is commonly called Morning Sickness, but can occur at any time during the day. Remember to eat healthy and try to avoid skipping meals. Try eating smaller meals more frequently. Your baby is at its most early stages of development and is very fragile. Getting an ample amount of rest and eating right can provide your baby with the nourishment it needs to develop properly. It is common to experience an enlargement of the breasts during your pregnancy. It is important to make sure that your bra does not fit too tightly. A woman’s lymphatic system develops during her pregnancy, and wearing a tight bra or one that is too snug can cut off circulation in the breasts, preventing toxins built up by cellular metabolism from leaving the breasts.
