Your baby is more than half an inch in length and is developing quickly.

Your Baby

The arms and legs and becoming longer, and the eyes and nose continue to form.  Your baby’s tongue begins to form this week.  Tiny fingers and toes continue to form.  At this point they are still webbed together.  Your baby is now approximately .61 inches in length.  At his point, the length is calculated from the top of the head to the buttocks.

This week the intestines make their way into the baby’s body.

Changes in your Body

You may be experiencing breakouts on your skin.  As hormones shift and change, your skin is excreting more oil.  Your skin may clear up in the second trimester as your hormones become more even.  For some this may not happen until after delivery.  Many women experience better skin during pregnancy.

Slight pains in your abdomen are normal.  Contact your caregiver is you experience contractions that are accompanied by vaginal bleeding.

week 8
written by Bella, January 05, 2008
I am up to week 8, and i know that there is something happening in my body, due to the dull pain of the cramps. There is nothing visibley different about me yet, and i think im getting a little bit frustrated about that, although i know it will all come with due time. My partner is great, although at the moment i know im not the easiest person to live with, constant mood swings ,and always feeling sick. Fingers crossed it gets better and i dont feel like this till the end (",)

WOW! I guess I'm not alone here, I'm going thru the same as you, in top of that I'm very sleepy I can't even get up to go to work, I get up to go to the restroom about 4-5 times during the night, I'm also breaking out... Everyone said that it gets better after the 12th week... Wish you luck!
Week 8
written by Rachel W., January 23, 2008
I have been SO TIRED lately!!! This is my third pregnancy, but it has been 8 years since the last one, LOL. I have been having naseau in the morning until I eat something salty, but no vomiting yet (knock on wood). I am already noticing changes, like a rounder belly and bigger, more tender boobs. I have had several people suggest twins because I am already quite large. A friend with 5 children said it's very normal to develop faster with each pregnancy. What do ya'll think?
Morning sickness
written by Savanahcolleen, January 28, 2008
Just a comment about the morning sickness ! ! ! If you keep some soda crackers by your bed, before you get out of bed in the morning eat a few of them first, this was suggested to me by a nurse with my last pregnancy and it really helps. As far as getting bigger faster with each pregnancy i think it depends on the person because this is my 4th pregnancy and the first took forever the second was not all that noticeable before 4 months the 3rd i noticed right away and now i am only 6 weeks and i cant see it but my cloths are already getting tighter.

I agree with all of this. I just recently found out I am expecting I'm not sure exactly hoe far along I am ,but This is also my third child.Like rachel it has been awhile my youngest is nine. I have been nauseas and havent been able to eat very much. I also have had some abdominal cramping. I've noticed my hair is oilier than it's ever been. I feel bloated and tired. I also notice my clothes getting tighter.I too am larger starting out, I'm afraid I'll get too big!I see the doc next week. I will know more then.
new mommy comin through....

I am nodding my head through every comment. This is my first full term pregnancy and I'm only 8 weeks. I too feel bloated, unattractive, gas-y and nauseous. Not good company for my fiance but he is sweet to me. I have found that ice cold water helps with the nausea, and constipation. I am slamming grapes, watermelon, ice cream and pickles and blk olives. I am excited but nervous at the same time about these hormone changes. I'm glad SOMEONE has gone through this too, sheesh, I feel like such a huge bubble of liquid already. I cant imagine what I'll feel like at 9 months. Ahhhh!

2nd time arround
written by YvonneL, February 03, 2008
This is my second child, my first just turnned 9 in November. I thought I had a stomach flu or something. I've been wanting this for a while but now it seems surreal. I've been sooooo neauseous it's crazy. All I want to do is sleep. I have lost a few pounds which is normal in the first few weeks (Erica) because of the morning sickness, even though I feel like I have 24hour sickness...lol. It's getting better. I've noticed that heavy foods are the hardest to keep down, and brng up for that matter. I'm so anxious, I cant wait to know what I'm having. I really want a girl this time around.
Ms. Late in the GAME!

Here I am almost "40" and my first child just turned 16 years old and on the same day I take a preg-test and it showed positive! WOW!!! I thought that I was through having babies....I know it's a wonderful blessing and all, but I'm trying to adjust my mind to a lot of things all at once...No Harley Davidson...No convertible benz (after my year old graduate), and No more thinking and leaving the country. I know that life is not always what we want it to be, but it is what God want it to be, and I'm so cool with that. Now what I'm not cool with it this morning sickness...I didn't have this with my son (b/c I crossed over my ex-hubby and he got it instead). So I'm sure you ladies have gathered that I'm becoming a basket case,
sleepy
written by LoriG, February 20, 2008
Hello fellow mommies!
My biggest problem is being sooo tired. I have to put my head down on my desk and sleep at lunch and I'm usually out cold on the couch by 8pm. Thank god I don't have any other kids, cause I have no idea how I would care for them! As for the nausea... I prefer to call it sea sickness, that's exactly how mine feels!

So Grateful
written by Amy Hurley, June 24, 2008
Hey Moms, I just found out that I am six weeks pregnant and I am so excited but scared to. My husband and I have been trying for two years and I actually found out I had a miscarriage on my anniversary this year. I have been sick but not bad enough that I hate it. My advice is to take your prenatal vitamins at night before you go to bed. That is what has been making me sick. When I changed and started taking them at night I was fine so far. I hope it stays that way too.Everything I feel scares me and makes me wonder what is happening but I don't want to worry myself into a miscarriage either. I need your help bad.
