Your baby is more than half an inch in length and is developing quickly.

Your Baby

The arms and legs and becoming longer, and the eyes and nose continue to form.  Your baby’s tongue begins to form this week.  Tiny fingers and toes continue to form.  At this point they are still webbed together.  Your baby is now approximately .61 inches in length.  At his point, the length is calculated from the top of the head to the buttocks.

This week the intestines make their way into the baby’s body.

Changes in your Body

You may be experiencing breakouts on your skin.  As hormones shift and change, your skin is excreting more oil.  Your skin may clear up in the second trimester as your hormones become more even.  For some this may not happen until after delivery.  Many women experience better skin during pregnancy.

Slight pains in your abdomen are normal.  Contact your caregiver is you experience contractions that are accompanied by vaginal bleeding.

Ms. Late in the GAME!
written by Mrs. H, February 18, 2008
Here I am almost "40" and my first child just turned 16 years old and on the same day I take a preg-test and it showed positive! WOW!!! I thought that I was through having babies....I know it's a wonderful blessing and all, but I'm trying to adjust my mind to a lot of things all at once...No Harley Davidson...No convertible benz (after my year old graduate), and No more thinking and leaving the country. I know that life is not always what we want it to be, but it is what God want it to be, and I'm so cool with that. Now what I'm not cool with it this morning sickness...I didn't have this with my son (b/c I crossed over my ex-hubby and he got it instead). So I'm sure you ladies have gathered that I'm becoming a basket case,
sleepy

Hello fellow mommies!
My biggest problem is being sooo tired. I have to put my head down on my desk and sleep at lunch and I'm usually out cold on the couch by 8pm. Thank god I don't have any other kids, cause I have no idea how I would care for them! As for the nausea... I prefer to call it sea sickness, that's exactly how mine feels!
new momma easy so far......

Hey Moms, I just found out that I am six weeks pregnant and I am so excited but scared to. My husband and I have been trying for two years and I actually found out I had a miscarriage on my anniversary this year. I have been sick but not bad enough that I hate it. My advice is to take your prenatal vitamins at night before you go to bed. That is what has been making me sick. When I changed and started taking them at night I was fine so far. I hope it stays that way too.Everything I feel scares me and makes me wonder what is happening but I don't want to worry myself into a miscarriage either. I need your help bad.

written by Anna, January 09, 2009
Im coming up on my 8th week and i am so tired! I get sick everytime i get hungry and am trying hard to keep myself from getting to that point. For some reason rice pilaf make me so sick now and just the thought of it makes me want to get sick and i use to like it! My boobs are so soar it hurts to be hugged! Whats weird is that i have a friend that is a month ahead of me and she hasnt gained any weight(tummy or chest). I already went up a cup size and look bloated. why is that?? not fair!

It's very reassuring to read all these comments. I am so tired all the time too. I am not sure exactly how far along I am, I just found out. I am thinking 2 or maybe even 3 months. I am bloated, gassy, and nauseous! I don't have much of an appetite either. I feel guilty because I don't really feel like eating. I have a son who is 13 months old, and it sure is hard to keep up with him because I just want to lay on the couch and sleep!

Kyrie, I know how you feel. I'm 19 as well and at first I was terrified. But then my boyfriend came home one day with a book of baby names and we sat down and picked out names for the baby and it really cheered me up (we decided on Lorelei May for a girl and Donovan Robert James for a boy :D). It sorta made it so that the mini person growing inside of me wasnt such a stranger. I have terrible morning sickness and have to get IV injections 3 times a week to remain hydrated, and its hard. But then I think of how great it will feel to hold that little baby and I'm happy again. I hope things get better for you :)

i'm almost 23 & yesterday made it official! i'm now 8 weeks along with my 1st & the most annoying symptom is of course: the dreaded morning sickness - more like all night & day sickness. i work as a cashier in a grocery store & almost everything i ring up has an effect on me! smell / sight of seafood makes me sick; snack stuff makes me hungry; & all the baby gear makes me wanna cry! what do i do???
Scared Too
written by Syawn, April 20, 2010
I am 9wks preg with my 4th child had 2 miscarriages and now I am pregnant again. Lost the other 2 at 7 wks so so far so good. However, I am very scared. Every cramp and trip to the bathroom is stressful. I sympathize with any of you going though the same thing. My recomendation to all is a lot of prayer.
:D

I am almost eight weeks pregnant and so excited for baby. Me and my love have picked names too, we're just waiting to find out if it's a boy or girl! This is my first pregnancy and I get a little nervous and scared for baby like I'm not eating enough foods or rest! I don't feel sick at all, mostly tired. I realized I can't eat too much in one sitting or I get too full. And I'm peeing constantly! I worry mostly about that first month when I didn't know I was pregnant - drank some beers, sat out in the hot hot sun, smoked - I had one ultrasound already and baby is normal size and heartbeat, but sometimes I still worry. Any advice for relieving stress or relaxing?
