Tubal, or Ectopic pregnancy, is a state in which the fetus does not grow in the uterus, but rather in the fallopian tube.  In some cases, implantation can occur in the ovaries, cervix, and abdomen.

An ultrasound is usually used to diagnose an ectopic pregnancy.  HCG levels that are excessively high may also be an indication. In some cases, it will be too early to determine and another test will be held later. Symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy include:

Lower abdominal pain

Mild to severe vaginal bleeding

Pain while urinating / during bowel movements

Tubal pregnancy can be fatal if left untreated.  There are two ways to deal with tubal pregnancy. The first is surgical. Surgery is done in later stages of the pregnancy, when the fetus is too large and poses a danger to the mother.

Another way is a chemical treatment using a drug called methotrexate. It is used in non-urgent cases to terminate an ectopic pregnancy.   In any case, if the condition is found in time, the percentage for risk diminishes considerably.
