Pelvic Joint Dysfunction or Symphysis Pubic Dysfunction (SPD) in medical language is a condition in which the ligaments around your pelvis which help keep it firm normally, stretch out and cause unusual sensations, and in some cases, pain.

Your body is changing and adjusting to make room for the uterus. The relaxing of the pelvic ligaments may cause an array of symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation and more) SPD may make you feel as if your legs are detached from your body, which can make walking, driving or even moving around while sleeping hurt.
Your pelvic joints may feel disconnected and as if the pelvic bones are rubbing against each other.  Sometimes, the joint gapping is so severe, that it triggers a condition called Diastasis Symphysis Pubis, which causes severe pain.

To relieve pain associated with SPD, you may wear a pelvic belt, a kind of corset that provides support for the abdomen and pelvic area. To avoid this condition as much as possible, it is recommended to do pelvic exercises that strengthen the muscles. If the pain is unbearable, confer with your doctor. In the rarest cases, this symptom can affect the delivery and a C-section will be necessary. In most cases, after the baby is born and your body adjusts back to its regular self, your pelvic area will feel normal once again.
