The baby begins to breathe in the womb!  You may be able to feel your uterus this week.

Your Baby

The baby’s neck is growing longer and the space between the chin and the chest has increased.  The placenta is providing all of  your baby’s nutrition at this point.  The baby begins to practice breathing in and out.

The baby will grow to approximately 2.9 inches this week.

Changes in your Body

Congratulations, you have now entered the second trimester!  This period of pregnancy is sometimes referred to as the “honeymoon” period, as your early pregnancy discomfort eases and your baby is not big enough to cause the discomforts that may be experienced during the later stages of pregnancy.

You may be able to feel your uterus about four inches below your navel.
