The baby can sense light!

Your Baby

In addition to the lanugo covering your baby’s body, Vernix, a white creamy coating forms on your baby’s skin for added protection.

If you could look inside you would see your baby making crying movements with the mouth as the lungs continue to form.  Although the baby can not make a sound in the womb, these movements will be heard upon birth!

The retinas of the baby’s eyes have developed enough to sense light.  If a bright light is shined on the abdomen, the baby may move to shield the eyes.

This week the baby will grow to about 5.6 inches.

Changes in your Body

This week you may be able to feel your uterus below your navel.

As your cardiovascular system is taking on an extra load, you may feel dizziness or be a bit light-headed at times.  This is not a problem unless it happens more than several times per day or if these conditions become severe.   It is best to move slowly when changing positions, especially when bending down or standing up.   Do your best not to get over-tired and not to put an extra load on your heart, lungs and kidneys.

written by kenisha, July 27, 2008
hey, i'm 18 weeks and i don't have much appetite at all. I did experience nausea but it stop when i was like 15 weeks or so. But I keep thinking that maybe i should have a little more appetite since i'm eating for two you know? I eat very small meals just a little more frequently and my snacks are basically fruits. Is this normal? This is my first time pregnant by the way.

i think its normal because i use to eat a lot in the beginning of my pregnancy and now i don't eat as much. I'm not really that hungry. I eat small meals like once a day. When i first became pregnant i ate a lot. Three times a day maybe. I never threw up thought, but i don't think im going to since im already 18 weeks. Is that normal that im pregnant and i haven't thrown up?
