The baby can hear noises outside the womb.

Your Baby

The rapid growth your baby has gone through in the past weeks may be slowing down, and the nest period to come is crucial in insuring the baby’s survival.  Your immune cells are being transferred through the placenta to protect the baby from viruses that you have had. The senses are developing as the nerve cells that respond to smell, light, touch and smell are maturing in the baby’s brain.  The baby can hear noises outside of the womb and may startle at loud sounds.  The voices and sounds that a baby hears while in the womb will be soothing when heard after birth.

The baby will grow to about 6.5 inches this week.

Changes in your Body

At this point you are about half-way through your pregnancy.  Your uterus should be felt approximately at the level of your navel.  The muscles in the urinary tract relax at this point, and the risk of bladder infections increases.  Your breaths may be more deeper now, and you may find yourself sweating more due to an increase in thyroid activity.

I was pregnant with my first and didn't look pregnant till 6 months. Finally, 7 months and I looked like a pregnant chick. As long as you are healthy and feeling good, you are fine. I only had one ultrasound at 4 months and the rest of my checkups were just to hear the heartbeat and have the doctor feel my "bump"! He is a perfect baby boy! If you are like me, you will not gain a whole lot, I gained 18.5, and you'll lose it really quick (I breastfed and lost it all in a month). I only started really exercising a little before getting pregnant and was 25. I'm confident that you are absolutely fine. Blessed and fine.

I'm 20 weeks along and i am showing too not alot but i don't have a nice row of abs anymore. i have a Q for all married people my husband doesn't want to have sex anymore in fact i pretty much have to make him or guilt him into it. im super depressed and even he says he misses my old body. i haven't gained that much weight at all only about 5 pounds and i feel hopelessly lost. and extremely unattractive! what can i do to save myself from feeling this way of to get my husband turned on again. mind you i used to pose in a swim suite for money my husband is used to a hot body and i know i will lose it and be back to that shape but i cant deal with this for 4 months longer!

Me and the baby are in good condition. The only way you'll know im pregnant is if you look real close. I know im fine though because my baby is realy active already and i feel him moving all the time. Try not to worry so much..you and your unborn are doing Great!!

HI miss lauren allen! i assume this is your first pregnancy with your present husband and he may be a little indifferent about the new changes happening in your body. I suggest that you sit down with him regarding this concern of yours as this may affect your baby in one way or another. If he truly loves you and he is more than willing to build a family with you. You shall go along just fine and you'll have a happier and fruitful life together when you two would be able to resolve all the issues. Be happy always for yourself and your baby most importantly! :)

You and your paretner should think yourself lucky you can have kids, i had POS which means i would find it really hard to have kids and you are worred about putting on abit of weight all that i can say is if your parenter does like the look of you while you are pregnant then he does not deserve you or your unborn child
prego and pos
written by Katlyn, November 12, 2008
Hey lauren Allan - How long did it take you to get prego and did you have to take anything to increase your chances? I am 22 years old, almost 21 weeks along and have pos. For me I only got my period every 4 months or so so finally I found a doctor the found out what was wrong with me after so long. She diegnosed me with POS and asked if I wanted to go on birth control to try to help or If I wanted to try something to increase getting pregnant. I choose other. I was put on something that you usually take when you have type 2 diab. only after a month or so I was pregnant but didnt know untill I was around 2 months If i remember right. Any ways I was just wondering about how it worked for you. I herd of another who had POS but it took her 8 years to get prego. well hope to hear back.

My fiance wants to name her ashley elizabeth. anyway, this is my second and i was showing at 3 months and ever since I got pregnant I have been spotting. Anyone else like that here? My doctor says I have a very inflamed cervix and I have GD which is not a good sign either however the baby shows healthy and doing great. I feel her move a lot.
