As you enter the third trimester, your baby and your abdomen continue to grow at a great pace preparing for the final entry into the world. Your Baby This week marks the beginning of the third trimester. Congratulations, you are two thirds of the way there! As the brain is continuing to grow and develop at a fast pace, your baby may start to recognize your distinct voice and that of the father. The baby is practicing breathing by pulling the water from the Amniotic sac in and out of its lungs. The baby will reach about 14.5 inches this week, growing at an amazing speed of half an inch per week. Changes in your Body Entering the third trimester, you should begin making considerations for the postpartum period. This is the time to begin the necessary preparations and to familiarize yourself as well as you can with birth options, symptoms and postpartum care. As there is a chance of going into labor early, preparing your house for the new arrival should also be part of your pre-birthing plans. As your baby continues to grow upwards there is an increased pressure pushing up on the lungs, making it difficult to take in full breaths. This should not be a cause for concern, as pregnancy hormones make the circulatory system more efficient, providing enough oxygen for you and your baby despite the cramped conditions. Stretch marks may appear on your abdomen as it expands in size. Further reading< Pregnancy week 26 Pregnancy week 28 > Comments (0)
