The baby continues to collect fat tissue and its lungs continue to develop. Your Baby This week marks a slight slowing-down of the baby’s growth length-wise, however the baby will continue to gain weight throughout the rest of the pregnancy. Fat cells continue to build under the skin. With all of the major organs having developed, the lungs are still undergoing the final stages of preparation for breathing after birth. Each day the baby’s chances of being able to breathe on its own increase. Changes in your Body You may be experiencing pains in your abdomen as it is increasingly being stretched. Make sure that you are getting an adequate amount of calcium. As the baby’s bones solidify further, you will need more calcium to meet the needs of you and your baby. If you are startling to feel excited or nervous about the birth, take the time to relax with breathing exercises and meditation. Listen to soothing music. Medical researchers have found that the activities that soothe the mother, soothe the baby as well. Tests show that when a mother is relaxed by calming music, the breathing of the baby slows as well.
