By now you should be ready for birth in the case that the baby comes early. Your Baby Most babies born this week survive without long-term health problems. Fat continues to build up and will be a large factor in helping the newborn regulate body temperature. This week the baby will grow to about 18 inches long and weigh about 5.5 pounds! Changes in your Body If you feel like there is just too much pressure on the ribs and its hard to breathe, take comfort in the fact that soon the baby will start to descend downwards and you will be able to breathe more easily. This is a good time to familiarize yourself with the birth process. There are various time-tested techniques for relieving pain and shortening the time you spend in labor. Read about Active Birth Positions to make the labor experience easier for both you and your baby. Further reading< Pregnancy week 34 Pregnancy week 36 > Comments (1)

I would just like to say, that no matter how many books you read, or how much imput you get from family and friends, The best birth position is the one YOU feel most comfortable in! Trust me on this. I'm due to have my 4th child in March, and I know all about birth positions. I look at the midwives and laugh when they want me to be in certain positions. Just because they say it might help you, doesn't mean it will. By all means try everything and anything that you want. I personally prefer lying on my back, with the bed slightly tilted up. I don't like to move as I have quick birth's. Try everything you can to make yourself comfortable. But only YOU know what is best for you at this time. This is your day, so you do what you feel is best for you and your baby :) Good luck and enjoy your nights sleep now while you can
