Your pregnancy is now considered full term. Your Baby At 37 weeks, the baby is officially considered full term. However, each additional day in the womb is extremely beneficial. The baby will probably be in its birth position by this point. As the abdomen continues to stretch accommodating the baby’s growth, the uterine wall becomes thinner, allowing more light to pass to the baby and helping it develop its life patterns following the amount of light in the environment. It is advised that the mother follows good sleeping habits herself, allowing to baby to accommodate to a healthy routine. This week the baby will grow to 19 inches in length and an approximate weight of 6.5 pounds. Changes in your Body Discharge from the vagina increases in the final weeks before labor, carrying with it cervical mucous. This is a good time to get a bag ready for the hospital stay during and after labor (if you have chosen to give birth in a hospital). Check your local area hospital for what they provide for the mother and newborn, as such services may vary by hospital and region.
