For Christians, Easter is one of the most important holidays of the year and is rife with symbols of eternal life, rebirth, miracles, redemption and salvation. These themes also make for very powerful and sentimental baby names. If you are inclined to bestow upon your baby a name inspired by the Easter holiday, check out the following baby name suggestions and their meanings.

Easter babySince Easter is held on Sunday every year, why not take a cue from Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman and name your child after that special day of the week?

There is no mistaking the significance of naming your child Pascal. A name with French and Hebrew ties, it literally means "born on Easter or Passover." Variations include Pasquale, Pascoe, and either Pace or Pacey for short.

Baby Names with Easter Meanings

There are several beautiful boy names that signify salvation such as Elisha, which means "God is my salvation;" Isaiah, meaning "salvation of God;" and Jace, a shortened variation of Jason, which means "Lord is my salvation."

For the girls, there are some beautiful ethnic names that mean miracle, such as the French name Marvella or Maravilla, or the Spanish variation, Mirari or Milagros (Milagro is the boy version of this name). The feminine sounding Nasya means "miracle of God."

Anastasia (or Anastasiya) is an elegant name that means "resurrection" in Russian. Nastasia is the shortened form, which is pretty unique and cute. Stacey is another nickname.

Evangelina, of English origin, relates to Easter because it means "messenger of goodness" or "good news" — which is not only a theme of Easter and Christianity itself, but also a symbol of your baby's arrival into the world!

Baby Names Signifying Rebirth

Another Easter-inspired theme is that of rebirth or being reborn. There are several unique names with this meaning. Phoenix is a very powerful name that has become synonymous with rising again; however, the actual meaning is "dark red." It could be used as a boy or a girl name. Renee, which is Latin, means "reborn" and could also be appropriate for either sex (particularly in French cultures, boys are commonly named Renee).

As Easter represents a time of new beginnings, why not try a name like the Latin-originated Nova, which means "new." This name can be either for a boy or a girl. If it is used for a girl name, you can choose an ultra-feminine middle name to soften it a little bit.

Baby Names Signifying Renewed Life

Eternal life or renewed life is another Easter theme, and there is no shortage of beautiful baby names that incorporate the meaning of "life."

Zoey is a popular name that has Easter significance as well. The name means "life" or "full of life," and it is of Greek origin.

Ashia means "life and hope" and Ava is a variation of Chava, which means "life" in Hebrew. Enid means "soul, life" and Hava means "breath of life" in Hebrew.

Matthew, of Hebrew origin, means "gift of the Lord," which is fitting of the Easter holiday as well. Other names with the meaning of gift include the following. Amashai, typically a boy's name, is of biblical origin and means "the people's gift." Dori (or Dorie), of Greek origin, is a cute variation of Doris, which means "gift." Sean (Irish), Shane (Hebrew), and Seana (Gaelic) all mean "gift from God." Shauna, of Irish origin, means "present" or "God is gracious" and the name Shawn (also Irish), which could be for either a boy or a girl, has the same meaning. Nathaniel means "gift of God" in Hebrew and Theodore means the same in Greek culture.

This spring, get inspired by the season's Easter holiday when you are preparing to name your new bundle. After all, themes of miracles, life, birth and gift aren't just for Easter – they signify the joy of your new arrival.
