written by Thamara, March 04, 2008
I have a cousin whose name is Charisma and I think it's a beautiful name. I come from from a family whose children are name unusual. Mine for instance growing up in Asia is totally different and because of it I had been teased and sworn to my mother that I will change it when I grow up.Now all grown up, I love it!!! My sisters name is Rinna, I have a cousin who is a Thea, a Maiah, a Thussett,a Galda, an Ivy,a Rhoda,a Tara,a Tonnette, a Thorbolt and a Tristan to name a few. For some reason my family never really settles for the common names and I can assure you that we all hated then but we surely love it now.

What if you us a common name in a foreign language. That's what makes it different. my husbands name is John and we didn't want to saddle a child with it so we used the Polish form. It's good to show ancestral pride too.

unique names will always be remembered and never f

I am currently pregnant and already a mom.I am fascinated by unique, never heard before names.I have a son named Lyrik which I love, I also love all the different reactions and compliments I receive. Of course their are always the people who just don't get it, but to me there just plain and boring people.I must say that I have heard the name karisma in the past and if I am to have a baby girl that's one of the names I am considering the other being Symphanie like the word symphony.I can't wait to see the reaction's i get from one of those two names. I think unique names are the coolest and show lot about a person's character. That would of course be the parents, and then one day who knows even the child.
Spelling my name
written by Chantelle R, March 15, 2008
i'm always having to spell my name (Chantelle) to people not that it bothers me what annoys me is that too many people have the same name just might be spelt different. I loved it when i was younger having a different name to everyone. My sisters name is Chavvaughn say it how its spelt when we saw it spelt Sioban we didn't know how to pronounce it. Now i have a daughter of my own with a unique name it is african due to hers dads family history. i found not every site has her name you have to look at heaps of sights write down the name and meaning and take it with you to hospital we didn't decide till after we had her. Now i have another on the way and the struggle is on again to find a name.

pick what you like
written by Amstebeshi123, March 16, 2008
I had my daughter 9 months ago, at the time I thought i was picking a different name *Gianna Rose* but in the past few months it seems like everyone has picked the same name! As far as exotic names go and being made fun of, I have a very "normal" name *Amy* and still got the playground name calls. Kids will be kids no matter what your name is.

Maori names can be very pretty for girls - not so much the boys names. Love is Aroha (said Ah-row-ha).
IGNORANT ABOUT KARISHMA
written by NISHAL, March 17, 2008
the 2words have nothing in common. one is from the english language / charisma. karishma, in hindi means gift, eg. "kudha ki karishma he" which translated means "gift from GOD".

written by yan, March 17, 2008
unique names are nice. i think they stand out more. i'm in high school and there are only 3 people with the same name as me. of course one is always in one of my classes but when you hear things and someone says, amanda, or christina, they say..which one? unique distinguishes you, like everything else.

written by Felicia G, March 20, 2008
My kids are Jordan (girl) and Austin and Sydney (twins--boy/girl). There are no others in their classes with the same names. And in my entire life there was never another "Felicia" in the entire school. Even now at work when I have someone fax me I tell them, don't worry I'm the only one in the building, it will come straight to me.
Names from Nicknames
written by Cordelia, March 20, 2008
I really like the names Symphanie and Lyric, they sound really exotic. My name is actually Cordelia but all my friends call me 'Coco'. It's actually an abbreviation. Many abbreviations are actually more interesting than the originals. Like "Tish", or "Cor" from Latisha and Corwin. Try to go for names that not only look different, but sound different too, so they are easy to distinguish verbally.

When i was in primary school, i hated my name bcoz it was so different from my friends'. i thought it sounded hard and strange. now i love it because even now, i rarely come across people with the same name. i often get compliments for my name. Glad that my father picked such a special name for me

Exotic and Unique
written by Drie, May 03, 2008
I have two unique names, Aloma and Tehina! Hated those names when I was a kid, but began to appreciate them when I became an adult, as they were both unforgettable!! I have never seen those names on any lists either.
