If you are curious about what names were popular in the decade of 2000 through 2009, then you are in luck. The company, Name Your Tune, used their data from customer orders of their personalized children's music albums to generate a list of the most popular boys names. From traditional boy names to unique boy names, find out who topped the list!

Perhaps that is why people spend so much time thinking and planning around baby names. But when it really comes down to it, the most popular names tend to stay popular for many years at a time.

But now that the decade is over, we can start to see what names dominated the boy naming scene. We're still a ways away from the official results being released by the Social Security Administration, but no matter. A company is filling in the blanks in the meantime. Name Your Tune has compiled their own list based on orders of their personalized music compilations for kids.

Popular Boy Name Trends

Oh, those boys ... if you have any, you know that choosing a name for a little boy can be mighty hard. In 2009, parents most often went for Aiden for their little guys, according to Name That Tune. The sweet Celtic name means fire. For the decade, Jacob was the top boy name. Jacob is a Hebrew name that means supplanted.

One of the interesting boy naming trends emerging is finding a unique spelling for a baby name.“We’ve seen more spelling variations of both of this year’s top names than we imagined possible - Aidan has also been Ayden, Aidyn, Aden, and Aaden,” says Name Your Tune Creator/Executive Producer Candace Alper. “Parents like the sound of traditional names, but they also want to show the individuality of their children. Parents realize that the name they give their child will become part of the child’s identity.”

Gender neutral or unisex baby names were also very popular. “Variations on the name Aiden are also dominating both boys and girl names –Aidan, Jayden, Brayden, Hayden, Caden. These names are gender-neutral and can also be spelled so many ways, hence their popularity,” said Alper.
