Both traditional baby names and trendy names made the list of popular Florida baby names for girls and boys. The top baby name in Florida was Jayden for boys and Isabella for girls, followed by Michael, Joshua and Jacob for boys, and Sophia, Emma and Emily for girls. For the most part, parents in Florida looked to strong, traditional names for their baby boys as well as their baby girls. For boys, you can’t get much more traditional than Michael (2), Joshua (3), Jacob (4), Anthony (5) or Christopher (6). Other wonderful traditional boy names on the list are Daniel (8), David (13), Matthew (14) and William (18).

For Floridian girls, parents chose traditional names like Sophia (2), Emma (3), Emily (4) and Abigail (9). Other popular traditional names were Samantha (12), Elizabeth (13), Victoria (15) and Sarah (21).

Trendy Florida Names

Other names that were popular are enjoying a popularity explosion in recent years. Boy names on the trendier side that were tops in Florida were Jayden (1), Ethan (7), Logan (16), Dylan (21) and Aiden (12).

 For girls, Isabella is extremely trendy -- it has made a huge jump in popularity in recent years! Other trend-setting girl names in Florida were Olivia (5), Ava (7), Madison (6), Brianna (11) and Mia (8).

 National Comparisons

The Florida list was similar to the top names in the country overall but there were a few shifts and differences. Isabella was the most popular female name on both lists, while the top boy name in the US, Jacob, came in at 4 in Florida.

The boy name Dylan was 21 in Florida but 33 in the US, and Gabriel (11 in Florida) was 22 nationally.
