Are you looking for a Korean baby name? Korean names come from a long history of unique naming practices on the Korean Peninsula, which is comprised of both North Korea and South Korea. Come browse our collection of exciting Korean baby names.

Traditional Korean naming practices are based on generation names, which means that one element (or character) of the child's name is his own, unique name, and the other character is given to all other children of the same sex and generation in the same family -- such as siblings and cousins. In this manner, each child has a name that is distinct, yet also related. This practice may not be as common in more metropolitan areas where the families are further apart or are otherwise widespread, and it's not practiced anymore at all in North Korea, except within the immediate family.

Female Korean names often have meanings that deal with the natural world, purity, goodness and other desirable feminine qualities. Male names will often have the theme of prosperity, strength and wisdom. The names we have listed here have been "romanized," which means they are written using Roman letters instead of using the native alphabet of the Korean language (hangul).

Check out our list of Korean baby names, along with their meanings!
