"K" baby names are fun, popular and can also often be quite unique. Many modern parents choose "K" baby names because they have a distinct sound, are easy to pronounce and also because there are many to choose from for both boys and girls. Some are zooming up the popularity charts and some are, and remain, quite uncommon. Check out our Top 50 boy and girl "K" baby names!

Sleepy newborn baby"K" baby names for girls are very trendy right now. Names like Kayla (#28), Kaylee (#31), Kylie (#51) and Kaitlyn (#53) were all in the Top 100 in the United States in 2008 according to the Social Security Administration. Even "K" baby names that were popular a few decades ago remain popular still today, such as Kimberly (#57) and Katherine (#45). Variants of these names are also quite popular, such as Kayln, Kyla and Kara. Katherine also has a number of short versions that are commonly bestowed as a given name, such as Kate, Kat and Katy.

Boy names starting with ""K" are also quite popular right now. Though not quite as trendy as K girl names, they are still showing up on the SSA's top lists as well, although only 2 appear in the Top 100. A perennial favorite, Kevin appears at #40. Kyle appears at #97 and Kaden at #99. Going beyond the Top 100, we find: Kaleb (#115), Kenneth (#136), Keegan (#222) and Kai (#229).

"K" baby names also have roots in many languages. Many popular Irish and Scottish names begin with K, as well as African names and Arabic names among many others. Keegan, for example, is of Irish origin; Kofi is of Ghanaian (West African) origin; Killian is another of Irish origin and Kyros which is a Greek name.

Many of these names are also examples of different spellings of C names. Sometimes parents fall in love with a particular name and wish that it was spelled a little differently, and subsituting a K for a C is an easy and legitimate option. Kade, for example, is also commonly spelled Cade, and Kaden/Caden are similar as well. Other examples are Kaitlyn/Caitlyn, Kate/Cate, Korey/Corey and Kara/Cara.

Celebrities are also making K names popular. Hollywood icons Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have a boy named Knox. Other celebrities that have children with K names are Ray Liotta, who has a daughter named Karsen (another example of altering a C name), Julianna Margulies has a daughter named Kieran, Pia Zadora's son is named Kristofer (and she also has a daughter named Kady) and Nicholas Cage has a son named Kal-El (which, incidentally, is Superman's real name and also resembles a Hebrew word meaning "voice of God").

Here is our list of the best "K" baby names for boys and girls.
