i am an identicaL twin, we were both girls, one of the things i hated moast about our names is how they matched (alex and abby) its just another thing about how people catogorize or compair you to your twin, if i ever have twins, im going to pick 2 names as far apart from each other as posible. do your self a favor and do that also, - abby

my mother is an identical twin (Janet Keren) and has said that altho she loves being a twin it was really hard growing up being compared all the time and having to fight for her individualtiy.

Your name becomes a representation of you and as a twin/triplet etc. identical or not your individuality is a big deal. Having similar names makes this just that much harder. and honestly, its just very tacky and sounds kind of silly.

Not to mention leaving your child open to teasing. At my school we had a mary and martha and people used to tease them all the time beacuse they had similar name as well as eing identical. they may has well been the same person as far as everyone bar their close friends were concerned.

if i have twins (and i have a very high chance) i will call them...

girls: Winter Amalie

boys: Jack Hunter

both: Jack Amalie

I have a twin brother. Our names (Bridget & Connor) are not similar sounding and I really appreciated that growing up. If I ever have twins, I definitely won't name them with rhyming names or anything, especially if they are identical.

Some twin names I've heard that I like...
2 boys: Logan & Tyler; Drew & Jeremy
2 girls: Nora & Peyton; Avery & Meredith
1 girl 1 boy: Max & Emily; Lucas & Adrianna - bridget

my choices for naming twins, triplets, and so forth

gurls: I figured that since i have 2 older sisters and 2 youngers which leaves me in the middle i decided to name my gurls with a combination of our names.Since my two older sisters are my step siblings and my two younger sisters are my real siblings- i went ahead and started with the 2 youngest siblings on both sides and then the two older ones... so it goes like this...

Maycine Ra'ese
Mayann Ther'quel
Sha'ra Cole'lyn
Sha'elle Nic'quel

or simply it would spell out S-I-S-T-E-R-S...
SHAI'ANN THERELLE
ISA'BELLE JADELYNN
SHAI'LENE JADE
TAI'DENCE JOY
ELIZA'BELLE ANN
RAI'ANI JEAN
SHAI'ANI JESSICA

.........and for the boys.......
well there's alot of names....like how i did the names with my sisters and i... the names for my boys would be after my 3 brothers and my uncles on both my mom and dad's side!

i will continue on later! - maysha

My twins are Dakota Austin and Sydney Gabrielle --he goes by Austin. There are another set in there class who are Matthew and Madalyn ---called Matt and Maddie.

My husbands cousin had her first son Zane. Then 3 days before he was 10 months she had Kane and Kole.

You can "theme" names and not be so obvious. (All of my kids are names on a map--not intentional tho). I heard of a lady who named her 2 twin girls Soleil and Celine--French for sun and moon. - Felicia G

Twins and the name pattern in the past continuing

I think it is kind of foolish to have twins with similar names. They are already linked to another human being in ways many can't even imagine but I think each twin deserves their own identity so why have Michael and Michelle or Penny and Jenny. These are real people, made them up I did not. Why not have the names be connected in other ways for example names that are both mythological names like Gaia and Chloe or names that are both Italian Oriana and Adriana or Adriana and Francesca. I find it really lame especially when you have twin boy and girl and what the parents basically did is give the girl, the femminine version of the boy's name such as George and Georgia or Charles and Carla which is not as bad as two others I knew who were Carl and Carla. I mean Hellooooooo By the way these twins I mentioned hated the names picked by their parents. One is now going by her middle name which is Ann, she said she rather be called Ann that a name so close to her brother's. Anyway, parents and future parents of twins..... spice it up a little. No more Pearl and Earl or Carrie and Harry. Okay - Jessica

My husband and I already have identical twin boys and we're seven months pregnant with another set! (It runs in the family) The craziest part is that it took us less than two weeks to conceive. This time around we have decided to be surprised despite the difficulty of nursery decorating.

Name Ideas:
Girls: Ella and Erin
Boys: Kearnin and Kayden (Our two year olds are Gus and Greer)
Mixed: Beck and Bella - Addison

My four children:

Logan, Emily, Matthew & Jason.

I don't see why people give their kids similar names.
They don't need to just so they can have a special bond.
They have that anyway.
