Venezuelan names

Sorry, but there is a mistake or misconception by the author. In Venezuela, parents choose the names of their offspring and authorities are bond to respect their decision. We are probably the country with the most creative and beautiful names and with a wider variety too. There is a tendency to form new names combining those of the parents. But, as with everything, there are ups and downs; this liberty has given place to names such "Superman" "Tarzan" or "Ladydi" - Ricardo Guridi

My name is Cessna Marie.(sounds like Sessna) I didn't like it so much when I was little but I love it now. I always get compliments, outside of the question..."Is your father a pilot?" Now I'm drawn to unique and sticking to that I named my daughter Sabella Brielle. I love it! Plus it's the only name besides Aida that my husband liked. If she doesn't like it when she's older she can go with Bella or Brie. Easy enough. We're Hoping for a boy next and so far I like Ronan, Salem, Asher and Nikkel. Girls, Shalom, Harlow, Vienne, Holland, Liya...too many to name. My sister-in-law also has a thing for "unique", her kids are Liam Ryse, Samara Devi, and Saxon Pierce. More ideas, my pet's names are Arwin, Tibet and Finnigan "Finn"...Hahaha! Still, cute names though. Just pick what you like. I've found that the people who don't get the whole different name thing are normally a little bland themselves or are just used to blending in. Don't be afraid to shine. - Cessna Kelley

My first child was a girl, and the name Madeline had yet to become really popular. So I named her Madeline Paige. My son came along a few years later and I named him David(after his dad)Chandler; he goes by his middle name. My third child, I named her Rosalina Alice.
All of the names...Madeline, Chandler and Rosalina, have 8 letters and one L in their names.
Then five years later I become pregnant un-expectantly. I am almost at the due date and we have just now decided on a name. Since this will be our last child, we are naming her Lastlan Olivia. We might as well name her 'last' because I am not planning on having any other children.
So our final child shall be named Lastlan. - Labree

Different vs. Weird

I grew up with a very unique name..Season Leah. It may not be so strange now, but when I started school in 1983 it was pretty rough. I am all for different and unique names, but remember that your child will have to deal with YOUR decision for the rest of their life. Kids can be cruel and it can be damaging to a child of they aren't able to withstand the comments. I even had parents of friends negatively comment on my name when I was growing up! It can be positive too, though. People always remember me, even if it is by Summer or Cesar or Susan or just "the girl with the weird name". Oftentimes, having a different or unusual name can be a struggle and somewhat frustrating because you almost always have to repeat yourself (and spell it) !! My advice, be different not weird! - Season J.

My husband and I are expecting a girl in Sept and Ive always wanted to name my little girl Skylar Elizabeth but my husband hates it and doesnt think its right for a girl name. Im trying to be flexible with other names and now hes insisting on naming her Emma and I am not that crazy about that name, just not for my little girl. I dont know what to do. We cant decide on any name and its getting EXTREMELY frustrating. What do we do? - Lindsay Day

alternative unusual names

Possible alternatives to Schyler (staying with the 'S'):
Shael/Shaela (as is Shay-la)
Shalaine
Shari
Saeri

For the "Twins - Uncommon names pls", there's several on your list that are nice but, depending where you are from some of them are becoming quite common names or are just spelling variations of common names.
From the boys, I think Tyrique is the most unique and Rochayah or Tianna for the girls.
Other suggestions: See the girls list above, plus Carys, Anara, and ShaeAnne. For boys, maybe also Kian, Caius (the Roman leader, said like KY-us) and Roane (one syllable, like 'Zone').

Hope that helps - j walsh

Names from Anime

To darksdreamer, I think all of the names are lovely, but Beloved/Loveless? I did watch the anime, and I think that naming a child after a yaoi, pedophelic relationship will be damaging to the poor kid XD But if you named your cat that, I'd be really cute ^.^ Twisted, I know. Out of the 5 listed, Saerie is-to me-the perfect one. :) - Jen

My husband and I love the name Ever Adeline for the little girl I'm expecting, and I keep coming back to it. However, when I brought it up as a possibility to friends and family the only one who really liked it is my mom. I love the name, but is it really too weird? I don't want my daughter to suffer for our decision. Any opinions. If it helps my other children are named Garrett, Taryn, and Kyndel. - Jamie

Unique with a bit of common

I have a friend that decided before she was even in fifth grade that if she ever had a daughter, her first name would be Katana. She now has a fiance and they've talked about it. He agreed as long as the child's middle name was Elizabeth. She mentioned the name to some of her friends and they thought poorly of it because the child would be teased a lot. My friend told them of some of the nicknames the child could be called (Kat, Kate, Ann, Ana) and they stopped bothering her. Of course they always make fun of her name, especially at Christmas. I think it wouldn't be so bad if the child had a more common middle name or if a nickname could be used instead. - Ency Peterson
