My daughter's name is Adana (pronounced like the name Donna with a leading short 'a'). She was named after the city of Adana, Turkey. I don't know the meaning of the name, only that it is the Turkish version of a Greek name. It has been suggested the Greek name could be Adonis.

My name is Adana and it is NOT pronounced Adonna. I wish people would just spell it that way if they want it said that way. People say my name like that all the time and I think my way is much prettier. My name is pronounced short "A" and then Dana...like a Dana....or one Dana. Basically "A-Day-Na" with a short first A.

I had no idea this name was African. I was named after a friend of my family with the middle name Adana. I know that it is a city in Turkey but I think it's pronounced differently then I pronounce mine.
