I love my name! Well my name was suppose to be Melissa, but my grandma said she was going to call me Missy and my Mother hated that so she took the Me off and added an A. She didn't even know that it would be a common name. Thats why I love my name, its unique and it has a story behind it.
I love my daughters name its so beautiful.

I liked the name from Alyssa Milano the actress. So I wanted to name my first daughter the name My husband is from Cuba and he spells like he hears, he spelled it Alisa. I told him no it is with an "Y" in it he did not like this so we compromised and spelled is with an "I" and with two "S". So we spelled her name "ALISSA". All my kids have their first and middle names that Start with "A". So her name is "ALISSA ANN". My husband gave her my middle name just like I got my mothers middle name. So Me and my daughter and my mother have the same middle name "Ann". My daughter loves her name and she loves that both me and her father had a part in naming her.

I had heard the name Elissa just once back in the late 70s when my daughter was born. Her dad and I both really liked it. She was going to Emily Alissa but one day her dad decided "NO" on Emily so she became Alissa Laurel....and it suits her! She was the only Alissa for quite awhile, but now its become rather common. If someone mispronounces it, she is quick to correct...and they never make the same mistake twice, LOL.
