Dorian was first used as a name in England, in the Picture of Dorian Gray, but is actually a Greek word, meaning "of the sea." You're heard of Doric vs. Ionic capitals? Also related.

My husbands name is Dorian. HE is very unique and brave. Although I have never met anyone that looked like him he is very handsome and manly. And he carrys his heavy name well.

I am a guitar player and hope that my future children will acquire my passion for music. I want to name my first born, if it is a boy... Dorian. Dorian is a guitar scale. Google it. You tube it. Just so you musicians and music-lover know as well, since it's not mentioned on any baby name websites or books!
