the name emily is a very common name and i love it, i really do. But, i think that it is too common if you like the name emily alot you can change up the spelling for your child. Try these: Emuhley, Emilee, or what about this one Emilie. these are very beautiful. My name is emily and i like to change things up a bit, so i like to spell it..ehhh-muhh-lee!

I am also the mother of an Emily but we spelt hers Emilee... i thought it was very original but not too out there that people would think it was over the top. There are lots of Emily's out there and they are also special but we wanted ours to be unique just like our daughter is. xo

I love the name Emily, but if I was to use it to name my daughter I would spell it Emalee. The name is pretty popular, but if you spice it up a bit and spell it differently, it makes it a little more un-ordinary and just that much more beautiful.

Not a fan of alternate spellings
written by Emily, August 15, 2008
First, I'm Emily and I love my name. Yes, it is common but I still love it because it is classic and it has stood the test of time. But I'm not into alternate spellings, especially the more uncommon ones, because to me all it means is that you're going to have to constantly spell your name for the rest of your life. A name is the way it sounds, it's how it is pronounced, and spelling it differently just complicates it without making it a different name. This is just my opinion. :)

When I had my little girl I wanted her to have a unique name but I also wanted her to be named after my g-ma Emma. I loved Emma but her g-pa was very sick so I added the 2 names together-Emmalee- the day we came home from the hospital her g-pa passed away so now her name is unique in spelling anyway!

i was gonna call my baby girl emily but thought the spelling was boring so i decided i was going to spell it emileigh. i thought it was pretty until someone pointed out that when she tries to learn to spell her name it would be difficult naming babies is so stressful lol!

...and I think it's very pretty, but WAY too common!!

IMO, I don't like different spellings of common names...like Emileigh or Emalee. They look very pretty, but in real life I would find it annoying. I had a hard last name before I was married, and it was annoying enough to have to spell that out for people. I don't know...I'm not too much into different spellings I guess :-)
