Ironic this name describes gray-hair, b/c that's what color my hair will be by the time I have a child. I needed a boy name after my granny-Gracie; this is it! Yeah>

Information from a child with the name
written by Grayson, February 13, 2008
and I am a girl....let's get that one straight.

It took me a number of years to appreciate the name the way I do today mainly because a)although easy no one could ever pronounce it right b)I'm not British and c) everyone assumed I was a boy...or just messing with them by giving my last name when they asked for my first name.

I like my name for the fact that it's really unique and it definitely fits my personality.

My wife and I choose this name for our boy, due in April 2008, as it is a perfect mix of our Fathers. G for her Dad Gordon, Ray for my father. Grayson! Gray for short. We both beleive it sounds strong and flows nicely together with our last name. so here's to Grayson James!

We had a little boy in 2007 and we named him Grayson James. We get a lot of compliments on it and it is unique without being too weird. We usually call him "Baby Gray". I don't think it sounds like a girl name at all and he never gets called "Grace" as one of the earlier comments suggested. I don't regret our choice at all and I like the name even more now that he's here! It really fits him!
Why does it need a "Y"
written by b. roose, March 15, 2008
I named my son Grason w/ no "y". I didn't think it needed it since "Jason" & "Mason" don't. I too get compliments on the name. No matter what name you choose for your child there will always be someone to make fun of them for sometimes no reason at all.

I love the name for a boy or a girl. I actually use Grayson as my pen name for my writing's. I just think it is very pretty (for a girl) and strong for (a boy).
Gracynn

We chose this name for our daughter but girlied it up with the spelling. With the way its spelled we avoided the gray hair meaning as it resembles the name Grace. We were going to shorten it to Gracy but she clearly wasn't a Gracy so we call her Gray. Her eyes have turned a really cool blue-grey so it seems fitting. It's not a common name where we're from so its cool to see there are others.

The only reason I'd pick this is because I am a HUGE JOSH GRACIN Fan!!!

:-) but my husband would never let me pick this name.
Masculine Grae
written by kelly, February 10, 2010
My son's name is spelled Graeson. And he has a very masculin nick name of "Grae". When I named him this; back in "98", I wasn't even thinking of a name of old.
I enjoy Jazz Music and was looking through a music mag., when I noticed a soft shade of gray in an advertisement and immediately thought; "how cool would it be (being my last name is Brown) that, if my son became a Jazz musician that he would be introduced as- Grae Brown.
I added the "son" part for more sophistication. I really wasn't thinking that it had been a common name at one point and I certianly didn't think that it was going to be heard of anytime soon. I was pretty disappointed. but ohh-bla-de-bla-da.(Beatles)
