I love this name, and although it is generally used for boys (when it is used at all), I must say I prefer it for girls. It's a very beautiful name, and wonderfully unique (1 comment, 7 ratings!). If I ever have a daughter, I would certainly name her Hollis, no doubt in my mind.

there is a book by patricia reilly giff named hollis woods. the main charachter, a girl, is hollis woods. she's a heroine. so if you named your girl Hollis, then she's a hero. but i'm not so sure anyone would like to have a child name Hollis. have you seen the pictures of bare-legged woman and shirtless men in the store, Hollister?
