i always hated my name and wanted something more original but as i got older i came to really appreciate it because i actually DO like the way it sounds now and my friends have all sorts of nicknames for me which i love. its just too much fun. i love it! examples of nicknames i go by: kim, kimmie, kimber, berrlly, kimberlyn, kimberlina, kimbo, kimbug, kimness, and of course the all so popular kim possible. lol and there are many more i cannot recall at the moment. ;)

I love my name... I am Kimberly May. I am not called "Kimberly" only special people call me that..I like to be preferred Kimberly when I want respect in professional setting. The only people that call me Kimberly is my dad, my sister and people who have special permission.

My family members and friends usually call me Kim. To children I am known as Kimmy. Some of my friends prefer to call me Kimmy... I am also known as Kimmerz.

I was not fond of the name Kimberly......when I was in school I knew a lot of Kimberlys and swore up and down that I would never name my daughter Kimberly but lo and behold I have a beautiful daughter named Kimberley Anne.........When she was a baby and her big brother was learning to say her name......we were teaching him Kimmy but it came out Mimi and that has stuck with her but now she limits those who get to call her that but when her brother calls her "Mimi" he can get her to do just about anything for him.

I have always loved my name. I think Kimberly is a perfect name. I've actually only personally met a handful of other girls with my name. One I teased in college because it was spelled Kymberli.
I go by Kim 99% of the time. I just always have. I like that nickname a lot actually. :)
Anyway, because my middle name is Elizabeth a few of my friends in college nicknamed me Kimmybeth. They knew I hated the nickname Kimmy and so they added part of my middle name to it. To my surprise - I love that nickname! :) I've never heard anyone else referred to by that either, so it's so unique.
One nickname I don't care for but don't hate as much as Kimmy is Kimber. My aunt calls me that.

Im naming my next daughter Kimberly Renee. My sisters names are Kimberly Ann and Kathrine Renee.

I meet so many people who have this name, and everytime I hear "Kimberly" My name sounds so timeless. I own it and it feels great to own somthing so purposeful, and given to me by parents no longer here. I think it even looks pretty when it's spelled in it's length KIMBERLY... LOL! Plus when I was a child Kim was short enough to spell... If your considering this for your baby name, use the entire name "Kimberly" so the child can choose if they want to use Kim or Kimberly. I love the fact that my mother thought about that fact before naming me...
