the name is also swedish and means the exalted one.... the name came before the water filter, and does not neccesarily have to be derived from brittany.

The name Britta is also a popular Danish name. My Aunt Britta is a strong-willed, very out-going and has the best sense of humor I have ever seen. Now my granddaughter has the name Britta. I couldn't be happier.

My name is Britta and I'm the only Britta in my entire county! actually, in any county around my hometown. i love how unique the name is in the states but i really want to meet another Britta......just because i never have:)
i love how the name means "strong". im a very strong-willed and outgoing person. im glad my dad chose the name Britta instead of Scarlet. I don't like Scarlet at all!!!
