This is what I named my son only I spelled it Rhoenin which I think is much better and more unique!!
Love It!

It's unique, but not too "out there," either. If our second baby (due in August 2008) is another boy, his name will be Ronan.
Cool Name!

Due in June 2008. Only name we could agree on. How about spelling it Ronin? Suggestions on a middle name?
Ronan is my son
written by Mama of 4, February 03, 2008
My son is named Ronan Michael and I love it and he loves it. I have never met another one, which is one of my criteria for names. I like the Ronan spelling better because Ronin is japanese and means samurai without a master, whereas Ronan is a Celtic name that means baby seal.
My son is Ronan
written by Katerinasky, February 22, 2008
My son is 11 months old and is named Ronan Arthur. The name came to me while I was in Ireland a few weeks before I becamse pregnant. I wanted a name that was a bit different and reflected my Irish and English heritage. We get many positive comments on his name all of the time. Only a few times have the comments been negative and honestly, they come from people I would view as ignorant any way.
My 3 year old son, R.C.
written by Keri Nieforth, July 15, 2008
We named him Ronan Cyrus. Ronan is a rock solid name, and it fits him perfectly. He is brash, opinionated and very physical. And like a "little seal" he has always loved the ocean. We went to Hawaii whie he was in utero, and this group of Spinner dolphins were circling us, singing to their little "cousin"! We don't personally know any other kids with this name; which is a plus in my book.
Our son is Ronan
written by 1and1ontheway, August 20, 2008
We fell in love with the name as soon as we heard it. Strong, masculine, distinctive and perfect to pay tribute to our irish ancestry. We've had nothing but positive comments on his name and we couldn't imagine him being called anything else! Some people do have problems spelling it however and write it as 'Ronin' which is actually the Japanese version and means samurai warrior.
I have never heard it spelt 'Rhoenin'?? Surely that is a made up name.

Other info about Ronan
written by MLB, September 08, 2008
Our son is named Ronan. We chose it because we were looking for a strong unique Scandinavian name and came across the name Ronan which mean 'mighty'. I have only found this meaning/origin in one book.

Also, in looking at the Celtic/Irish history I found that the meaning of 'seal' is related to a seal associated with a promise or of giving ones word. We liked the Scandinavian and Irish meanings; both very strong.

I have heard that the name Ronin; Samurai without a master, is basically a rogue warrior or mercenary, and is actually associated with dishonor - does anyone know if this is true? If so, it would be good to know if you were considering this spelling.
My son's name is Roanin
written by Leah, September 20, 2008
I named my son Roanin Cade. Just wanted the spelling a little different though pronounced the same. I found it with the Ronin spelling. I do have many many people that hear his name and think that we said Roman, and some even thought Roland(yikes) so that may help someone out. But I still am in love with his name.
My Son's name in Ronin
written by Kerri, October 20, 2008
My son is 2 1/2 months old and we named him Ronin Joseph. I believe the meaning spelt with an "i" is Japanese and means Samuri without a master. At least that is what my husband told me when he picked it out. I wasn't too sure of it at first, but now I love it!
