Desiree will have been my name for almost 24 years, and I have only met a handful of people with the same name. I like being someone with a unique name. Nowadays it's so hard to find unique names without them sounding too funny....for example the celebrities are going nuts with their children, naming them things like Coco or Apple.... i thought coco was a monkey...oh well off track here...DESIREE ROCKS
LOVE IT!!!

The name Desiree is such a pretty name, my mother had me 27 years ago and named me Desiree only her way of spelling it is Deserae. I just wish people would actually say it, instead it always gets the short form as Dez or Desi....BLAH! But I really do love my name though. My full name is Deserae Dawn, don't that just sound great together! =)

I hated my name for most of my childhood and teenage years because I got called Desi and I didn't like the sound of that. I also thought it was more of a stripper name because it means "desired", but one day God changed my perspective of that. Instead of it meaning the stripper-type of desired, to me it means that I am desired by God! He desires for all of us to love and know Him, but my name is a special reminder to me when I need it. :)

My mom had just read a story about Napoleon Bonaparte which is where she found my name 53 years ago. My relatives felt my name was too much for a little girl thus my nickname, DeeDee, short for Desiree Dawn. As a young adult and after hundreds of comments on how beautiful the name "Desiree" is, I acquiesced and I am glad I did. In the US we shorten these beautiful names and I'm not sure why. It was heartwarming to find that at my hs reunion years ago three of my classmates had named their daughters Desiree. Once married my full name became Desiree Dawn Eden. My daughter, Angelica, will always be Angelica...never Ang or Angie or anything other than Angelica. Beautiful names bless the beautiful hearts of young girls and deserve the time it takes to say them as they were intended.
