I love the name Emily, because not only is it the name of my grandmother and my sister, but my best friend in the whole wide word is also called Emily. They are amazing, strong people and I hope my daughter - who will be called Emily - is just like them.

Yep - I'm another to add to the list. 22 years of being called "emily". i actually don't like it when people call me "Emily" id rather them just say "em" or Emma. theres just nothing spicey about emily....dawn, autumn, ashley, madelyin...nething, but emily...its dull..

A lot of people say they don't like the name Emily because it's too common. I do hear my name called in random places, but after a while I really started loving it. It means industrious, a brightness in the dullness and a hard worker. I've found that most Emily's I've met are funny, beautiful hearted, caring, loving, empathetic, open-minded, outspoken, and I really agree with internet junkie. We Emilys are very unique. I'm dorky and weird, but I love it and so do my friends. Besides a name is something to be proud of, even if it's overused.
its okay

I find it very funny to hear everyone talk about Emily being to popular. I realize that it is and has been for the past several years but that hasn't always been the case. I am pushing 50 and no one had this name when I was a kid. From kindergaten until I graduated high school I never me another Emily except my grandmother that I was named after. Not a very popular name huh? LOL Anyway I didn't like it then because I thought it was a very OLD and not popular name. Of course I have since come to love it.

I love this name, but I hated how very popular it was so I decided to change the spelling and I think it looks very cute. Emalie May. My husband was afraid someone would call her Ema-lie but after some convincing he finally agreed. :)
She calls herself Emmie too.
