my name is evelyn and i was named after my grandmother..our family is french and i have never heard of a boy named evelyn!!!

Just stumbled across this site.
40 years ago my parents named me Evelyn and 8 years later when my sister was born, they named her Eileen. What amazed me after reading the meanings in this site.....both Evelyn and Eileen means LIGHT and that the name Eileen derives from Evelyn! Amazing that our parents named us without even knowing its meaning and origin but look at the amazing results! And we are not Irish, German, French etc....we are ASIANS. Divine Intervention definitely had a part to play in this ' name game'. Thanks Mum and Dad!
