Having this name sucks. The English pronunciation is awful, and very few people I know can even muster that. It only sounds good when French people say it. And the nickname 'Jackie' is awful- way too masculine.
It's All in the Pronounciation
written by Jacquelyn, January 02, 2008
It's independant-sounding, and pretty with the French pronounciation. When people say all three syllables (jac-a-lin) it's nice, but when it's said harshly (JACK-lin) it's a bit gruff. It's all about how people say it. The nickname "Jackie" is horrible. I choose to go by Jack, except I spell it like "Jaq".

When people spell my name wrong... it looks disgusting any other way.
I also hate when people say Jack-lin I like the 'Q' being pronounced.
I get called Jacqui, I don't really like it but it what I've always been called...
I like my name :) and I think my middle name makes it even prettier.
Jacquelyn Rose.
I don't know how to pronounce my name!
written by Jacquelyn, February 19, 2008
I'm serious! My whole life each member of my family has pronounced it differently. My mom says: Jack-lyn. My older sisters say: Jack-kwe-lyn. My dad says: Jack-leen. I like the way my sisters and dad pronounce it. I agree that Jack-lyn can be way too harsh depending on the person who says it. People call me Jackie. (Which, funny enough, I think is absolutely ugly but can't imagine being called anything else. Talk about an identity crisis!)
