My name is Kyna and while most people who attempt to pronounce it end up saying it horribly wrong, it is unique enough for a lot of them to remember (for others, though, it's "weird" enough for them to easily forget!) I have heard it pronounced as: Keenah, Kenya, Kanya, Kinna, Keenya, Kahnah, and sometimes people don't even try. My name is pronounced as "Kie-nah" (to rhyme with China -- pretty much the only thing it rhymes with). I invariably receive either a compliment or a joke from people "What a pretty name" OR "You're Kyna what? Har-har." I once knew someone who thought my name was "kinda," as in "I'm kinda tired, I think I'll take a nap." I have known of (but never met) other people named Kyna but whose name is pronounced as "Keenah;" I prefer my pronunciation and enjoy a unique name. I know of the Gaelic origin, the culture in which I have read that it means "warrior," and know it to be the female counterpart of the male name of "Conan." I have always been told by my parents, though, that they know it to be a Welsh name, a language and culture in which it means "wise lady." Not bad, either way.

My name is Kyna, pronounced "kai-na" I've heard other people with same spelling pronounce it "kee-na" but I think "Kai-na" sounds much prettier :) I used to get teased as a child but now people love my name. I did research on it before it was referenced as a hebrew name.

My name is Kyna...pronounced "kee-na". I completely love my name. It's one of a kind. Throughout my life, I have met only 3 people with my name (spelled and pronounced the same way). I'm glad it's rare. "Kyna" means intelligent and it has been a source of inspiration to me.
