Due to my last name of MacDonald I have been called "Mac" for years. I use it now instead of Robert and I absolutely like it. It means 'son of' so it fits the whole name. It is a name that was used extensively during WWII, but now seems less so.

My father is a "Mac." His first name is also Robert. I wanted our son's middle name to be some form of my dad's. I'm so glad my husband suggested Mac.
