I love the name Emma.. I think it is one of the few german names that actually are pretty. I also like the fact, that it is pronounced the same in both english and german. Living in Germany but loving the english language and the english speaking countries and nations, I think it is a great agreement to combine them both in my childrens' names..

First of all, I hate the way Emma sounds. My voice is such so that it always sounds like I have a cold, so it sounds like Ebba when I say it.
My appreciation of the name comes from the meaning entirely, and what a meaning it is! The best. I truly couldn't have named anyone better in this regard. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, -- that is genius." I do not take "whole" to mean complete or entire necessarily, but rather as the idea that all of the implements of finding universal truth are *included in the package.* This name alone says what I most want to say every day: that within the individual is humanity, entirety. It's whatever we're dying to say I guess, by definition, our 'latent conviction.' This alone is human.
