My name's Gretchen too & I'm pn this site becuase I'm changing my name. I can't stan the way people look at me strangly when I say my name, & how no one can ever spell it. It's like orange it doesn't rhyme with anything. There is no smooth way to say a harsh name like Gretchen. I'm glad that you guys like being Gretchen but I'm changing my name.
I love my name

That really sucks that you would want to change your name. I love my name and yes it took a lot of time getting used to as a kid, because it was hard to say and everyone would spell it wrong I love it now because I am different. Although I hate being called Gretch because it sounds like retch and that is puking.
i love my unique name

we are in a class alone. an uncommon yet familiar name we have. everyone has heard it before but only so few know a gretchen.
how many of you have been asked "like gretal...hansel and gretal". how about "i knew/know a dog named gretchen". my nickname as a little one was gretch-the-wretch because i was a pretty stubborn strong willed little girl. i guess i finally grew into all that.
anyhow i like my name even though i couldn't say or spell it until i was eight years old, the name had to be grown into.

It's a great name!

I like it, it's a beautiful name, one that people rarely forget. If the name sounds a bit harsh add a middle name like Marie to it. Gretchen Marie. Some name that softens it and somehow rhymes with it.

Do not worry about people spelling it or pronouncing it wrong. People spell and mispronounce even very simple names. My first name Carl should be simple to spell and pronounce. People butcher it all the time. It bothers me not.
