My son was named for Homer, Alaska, where we honeymooned. It doesn't rhyme with "Aidan", which is the BEST thing about his name.
After 2 miscarriages, we needed a "promise" in this child, and he is a dynamic, strong, sociable, and bright child!
The name has been well-received by 90% of people since his birth, and by 100% of people who meet him. The only folks who haven't understood or liked his name are the less educated people, who say things like, "Huh, after Homer SIMPSON??" N
Truthfully, it has been made even more popular by Hollywood celebrities such as Anne Heche, Bill Murray, and Richard Gere, who all have children named Homer.
