The name is ancient in origin. It derives from the original name Polixeni which means very hospitable to strangers. Zeus, the king of the ancient gods (his name in greek is Dias) was called Xenios Dias who was protector of travelers as well. There have been several famous women with the name Polixeni. One was a muse. The other was the daughter of the King of Troy. She was famously in love with Achilles. It is not a very common name in greece but that's the interesting part. There is a hotel chain in Greece with the name Xenia as well. They put the emphasis on the i. But the emphasis is used on the e and the x in the beginning sounds like the x in exotic or expensive.
