Ellis as a girl name???
written by ce, February 18, 2008
I am trying to come up with a name for my third child, but first girl. My maiden name is Ellis so we wanted to use that. I was shocked to see Ellis is only listed as a boys name. We wanted to call her "Elli".
Love Ellis

I Love Ellis as a girls name...my mentor growing up's maiden name was Ellis and she passed away a few years ago. My first born will get the name Ellis...boys middle name or girls first name! I think it is a unique and strong name!
Please add Ellis as a girls name

Ellis IS a girls name, too!

My 5-year old daughter has the name Ellis. I loved the traditional Irish girls name "Eilis" (pronounced eye-lish) but my husband thought everyone would mis-pronounce it and miss-spell it calling her Ellis anyway, so we went with Ellis. I do not shorten it to Ellie. On the soccer field, it sounds like a great, strong name & fun when her teammates and parents cheer it! So unique among all the generic "Emmas" and "Emilys" on the field and in her kindergarten class.
