I really like this name and the strong meaning. My hubby like Emily but not a strong name. I am still standing strong on this name:)

Iam expecting a girl. I first wanted to name her Pierrette, but than my husband and I didnot like the way some people prononced it.So we finally came out with Gabrielle.Wich I think it's strong ,cute and we love its meaning.

When I was in seventh grade, in Spanish class, we were allowed to choose our own names; ironically, for Anna Marie...I chose the name Constancia (Constance). Also, in elementary school, not many people would pronounce my name correctly and I was always so adamant about people calling me by my full name. There was a popular joke back then that went as follows, and I got a lot of teasing from it:

Q: What do you call a talkative crab?
A: Gabby Crabby.

Wow. Talk about inventive. [/sarcasm]

While Gabrielle is certainly a beautiful name, it is certainly annoying when people cannot pronounce it, which happens quite often. About 1/20 people are able to pronounce my name the first time; also, people like to call me Gabby although I have never introduced myself to them as such. I went by Gabby in high school; however, I now go by Rie (I never really liked "Gabby"). All in all, while my name is beautiful, it has proven to be quite a hassle.

Just as a forewarning. :) But if you can handle the irritation, go right on ahead. haha :)

my daughters name is gabrielle and she has a very spunky personality. she always wants things her way and when she cant get it she throws major fits. so i started calling he crabby gabby, thought i made that up i didnt realize how common it was. lol. i do love my daughters name it sounds so glamorous it fits her so perfectly.

My daughter's name is Gabrielle. I love it. I do have to say though that there are a strange amount of people who mispronounce her name! I didn't know "Gabrielle" was such an unusual name until a majority of people starting pronouncing it "Gabriel," like the boy's name. People also LOVE adding an "a" onto the end and calling her Gabriella. OR spelling it Gabriel even though you say, "Gabrielle." It's kind of annoying, but I wouldn't pick any other name for her. I think Gabrielle is a gorgeous name. Thought you might like to know what you're getting into though! :)

My name is Gabrielle as well, though I go by Gabbie.
Everything that's been said about it being a great name is correct, though the gripes about the misspelling and mispronunciation is true as well.
I used to really dislike my name because everyone, and I mean everyone, used to call me Gabriel or Gabriella by mistake. When I was 6 years old, it used to really bother me, so I started telling everyone my name was Crystal (short for Crystal Princess. haha).
12 years later I'm 18 and I'm honestly very glad my mother picked such a great name. I feel as though it really suits me and sounds very professional, while "Gabbie" is very light and non-abrasive when I feel like being more my age.
It's not as common as you'd think, but that's definitely not a bad thing. It's nice to have a name that represents me and not a popular fad like Ashley or Hannah. I'm crabby, I'm gabby, but mostly I'm just Gabrielle.

When I am blessed to have a daughter her name will be Gabrielle. I love the meaning and it sounds a lot like my name. Corny....I know, but it is cute.

My name is Gabrielle Alida, after my great grandmother (Louise Gabrielle Alida). I used to not like it because it was different and people couldn't pronounce it, but I love it now, It is beautiful. *Thanks Mom*

I named my daughter Gabriella. I love that name. We are from Europe, so we call her Gabi (germ.) So far nobody had problems with Gabi's name. Everybody says it is beautiful and classy. I think it's strong and yet feminine name.

My real name is Gabrielle but everybody calls me Gabby. I love my name but I wish it was completely orginal and nobody else would have it. I know another girl with the exact same name Gabrielle M Taylor. I hate when people butcher my name but i guess thats the price of haveing a name true to myself. I hope if you do name somebody this or have this namae that you love it.
